The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that more than 4.3 million Americans have contracted Zika, a virus linked to birth defects and brain damage.

The CDC estimates that more people in the United States are infected with the virus each day than were infected with dengue in January.

The U.N. has also warned of the spread of Zika virus to at least 6 million people in Brazil, where the outbreak began in March.

There are also fears of other countries in the region, including Brazil, Argentina and Colombia, which have seen significant epidemics of Zika in recent years.
