A Florida man has been charged with the murder of his wife in a shooting that left her son with a broken skull and fractured pelvis.
Authorities said the 32-year-old man, who is charged as an adult with murder, told police that he was at the couple’s home in Tallahassee on Feb. 7 when he fired shots and hit his wife.
He told police he shot his wife, who he had been dating for about a year, in self-defense, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The couple is both charged with murder and their son is hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities say they believe the shooting may have been an accident.
They also say they are looking into whether the shooting was a domestic disturbance.
The Tallahacauga County Sheriff’s Office and Tallahamsee Police Department are investigating the case.
